About Us
Our History
Pharma College has gone through a series of transformations since its establishment as a higher learning institution. The college is a private institution located in the city of Hawassa situated around 275 Km south of Addis Ababa, in Sidama regional state of Ethiopia. The establishment of Pharma College dates back to 1996 with the initial name Pharma College of Health Science. It is founded by MR. Seyoum Kebede pharmacist by profession.
The College is the first privately owned institute of higher learning to be awarded full-fledged college status in the former SNNP regional state.
Pharma College is a pioneer in pharmacy education training. It started with only 60 pharmacy technology students in 1996E.C (2004G.C). Progressively, the institution launched Diploma programs in public health areas, pharmacy, nursing, etc.
Gradually the college has played a pioneering role in providing quality education, setting affine record. Latter named Pharma College, the institution has promoted innovation approaches and launched Degree programs in various disciplines.
The college, apart from diploma and undergraduate programs, has been highly engaged in the expansion and diversification of post-graduate programs. This makes our college among one of the few colleges to offer postgraduate programs learning to master’s degree in Public Health and Business Administration (MBA) and accounting and Finance (MSC).
We strive to be committed to the students we are privileged to serve, in our alumni association, our dedicated, talented faculty and staff. We also take pride in having the most active and helpful group of partners, visionary parents, well-wishers, alumni and friends.
The college is now functioning on three campus premises. The main campus, where the first milestone was laid, is Hawassa Campus. This campus is located at about 227 km south of Addis Ababa. This is the main campus of the college where the offices of the management of the institution are located. The second Campus is located in Shashemane Town where the College of Health Science and Business fields are situated. The third is in WolaitaSodo Campus located in Wolaita Zone of SNNPRS.
Moreover, currently, Pharma College is in the phases of establishing its other campuses in Addis Abeba, Leku, Konso, Jinka, and Halaba. This makes other new campuses to be opened as a part of Pharma College for the next academic years.
In addition to the above roles and responsibilities, Pharma College has a longstanding history of supporting its local communities with the intention of creating a positive social impact. The college, for example, offers scholars to students with financial difficulties. Besides, it gives scholarship to its own staff who wishes to upgrade their academic status, and students with outstanding records in sports and other cultural activities. Moreover, the college conducts community service researches and tries to bring social impact on the lives of the society.
In a nutshell, the centers of our college will continue to be our beautiful campus in Ethiopia. By 2025 we will have significantly expanded and improved facilities for students and for learning while maintaining and developing our current community-based environment. We will continue to be engaged, active, and responsible citizens of our nation, Ethiopia.
“My vision for this college is to inspire our students to be lifelong learners, ethical leaders, and global citizens. I welcome you to join our diverse and inclusive community of excellence and innovation.”
